Judith de Jong promoveert sinds 2019 aan het Duitsland Instituut Amsterdam en aan de Faculteit der Maatschappij- en Gedragswetenschappen van de Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA). In haar promotieonderzoek bestudeert ze hoe Nederlandse, Franse en Duitse burgers politieke vertegenwoordiging vormgeven en beoordelen. Ze heeft de Research Master Social Science afgerond aan de UvA, waarbij ze zich onder meer richtte op verzet tegen uitsluiting onder Nederlandse Moslims en op de effecten van juridische barrières in de levens van partners met een ongelijke verblijfsstatus. Daarnaast was ze verbonden aan de McGill University en de Washington University in St. Louis.
